The B. Sc. Industrial Chemistry programme was one of the foundation programmes offered in the old Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science (now Faculty of Physical Sciences) established at the inception of the University College in October 1976. The Industrial Chemistry programme commenced in the 1977/1978 session and became a full-fledged Department in 2014.
Industrial Chemistry as a central discipline of science, applies chemical and physical principles to the understanding of the structure and interactions of matter in the universe with impacts on other fields such as Geology, Environmental Studies, Medicine, Agriculture, Material Science as well as Engineering among others.
The department offers B.Sc., M. Sc., M.Phil, and Ph.D. programmes in Industrial Chemistry and consists of members with expertise in Analytical, Physical, Inorganic, Organic, Industrial and Environmental Chemistry.
