Industrial Chemistry

Alafara Abdullahi BABA, FCSN, FMSN is a Professor of Analytical/Industrial and Materials Chemistry in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin.

He has served as Head of Department-Industrial Chemistry; Deputy Director-Central Research Laboratories; Senate Representative-SDC, Secretary, Hydro-&-Electrometallurgy; EPD-Council (Education Representative), Chairman, Light Elements Technology in Council of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society, USA; National President, Materials Science & Technology Society of Nigeria (2022-Date); and the Dean, Faculty of Physical Sciences, University of Ilorin (2023 – Date)

He has keen interest in teaching, community services, and research covering Solid Minerals and Materials Processing through hydrometallurgical routes for metallurgical/technological utilities; with over 23 years of cognate experience. He has over One-Hundred and Seventy publications spreading through national and internationally acclaimed high-impact journals.

Prof. Alafara has attended many national, international conferences/research exhibitions, and recipient of credible awards-cum-honours including Innovator of the year in the University of Ilorin (2024); and the Best Faculty of the year on his ambitious vision 1:1:10:500 among others. He has supervised/still supervising many undergraduate and postgraduate research including the 2020/2021 Unilorin’s Overall Best Postgraduate Student and currently serving as External Examiner in Universities within and outside Nigeria.
